Scholarships for Academic Perseverance in Respiratory Therapy: Four New Recipients
27 July 2022
On the occasion of Respiratory Therapist Day, the Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont (HMR) Foundation is proud to introduce the students chosen to receive a scholarship in respiratory therapy. The four recipients distinguished themselves through their passion, a desire to broaden their knowledge and their commitment to the Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont.
Each of the future respiratory therapists was awarded a $10,000 scholarship.
Significant Scholarships for the Next Generation of Respiratory Therapists
A source of concrete support for the advancement of the students’ education, these are the largest scholarships awarded for this profession within the CIUSSS de l’Est-de-Montréal. On May 17, just a few days before Respiratory Therapist Day, the HMR Foundation held a ceremony to award the scholarships. The event also highlighted the therapists’ essential role within the health sector.
The ceremony was attended by Dr. Martine Leblanc, Director, Professional Services and Deputy Director, Physical Health, Esther Vandal, Head of the Respiratory Activities Department and Stéphanie Goupil, Respiratory Therapist and ambassador of the Together for the HMR Fund. They welcomed Carmina Bodea, Sanise Clerge, Jade Dionne and Marianne Ouellette to the HMR family!
Carmina Bodea
She is currently in her 3rd year of respiratory therapy studies at Collège de Rosemont. During her internships at the HMR, she appreciated that the entire team helped her integrate and supported her. For Carmina, the HMR is a place where you never stop learning and improving.
Sanise Clerge
This candidate is studying respiratory therapy at Collège de Rosemont. A resident of Montreal, she completed several internships at our hospital throughout her studies. Her scientific curiosity and motivation to be part of our team proved to be strong assets for the selection of her application.
Jade Dionne
Also attending Collège de Rosemont, she discovered the profession through a friend, who is also a respiratory therapist. From the very beginning of her internship at the HMR, she felt warmly welcomed by the entire team of respiratory therapists. She is also very eager to build this strong bond with other professionals.
Marianne Ouellette
She is currently completing her respiratory therapy program at Collège Ellis in Trois-Rivières. Attracted by Montreal’s dynamic nature and by the hustle and bustle of a large hospital such as the HMR, it is within our walls that she wishes to kick off her career.
Eight Scholarship Recipients Since 2021
Back in 2021, the HMR Foundation committed to awarding $100,000 in respiratory therapy scholarships. A total of ten $10,000 scholarships will be given to future respiratory therapists who choose to start their career at the HMR.
The first four scholarships were awarded to Marie-Ève Bureau, Audrey Champagne, Lilia Lakhdar and Marjorie Quintal-Pépin , on December 2, 2021.
