The University Ophthalmology Center

Designated as the University Ophthalmology Center (CUO) in 2015, HMR brings together the largest team of ophthalmologists in Quebec, with laboratories among the best-equipped in North America and internationally recognized expertise. Its department engages in activities related to care, research, and teaching in ophthalmology.

Together, researchers, physicians, and all specialists work to ensure that the numerous therapeutic possibilities stemming from fundamental research in cellular therapy and regenerative medicine quickly benefit patients.

Within the CUO is also the Quebec eye bank.

« When my mother regained her sight thanks to HMR, she kept repeating we're lucky to see nature, the birds, and the flowers! To see the magic of life! »

« If my mother had become blind, she wouldn't have wanted to live. Some might have said that at her age, 88 years old, you don't undergo surgery... but at any age, we have the right to dignity and healthcare. When she regained her sight, she kept repeating to me: we're lucky to see nature, the birds, and the flowers! To see the magic of life! »
