Marjorie Quintal-Pépin, Audrey Champagne, Lilia Lakhdar et Marie-Eve Bureau, the 4 recipients.

The Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont Foundation is pleased to award four of the ten $10,000 scholarships to future respiratory therapists who have chosen to start their career at the HMR.

At a ceremony held on December 2nd, the first four candidates were each awarded a scholarship. The recipients distinguished themselves through their passion, a desire to broaden their knowledge and their commitment to the HMR.

Substantial Scholarship for Respiratory Therapists

A sign of the tangible support pledged to the advancement of studies in respiratory therapy, these are the largest scholarships awarded for this profession within the CIUSSS de l’Est-de-Montréal. A highly symbolic event. Indeed, the first respiratory therapy school in Canada was established at the HMR in 1964. At the time, it was called the École de technologie en thérapie inhalatoire de l’Institut Lavoisier de l’Hôpital St-Joseph de Rosemont (Hôpital St-Joseph de Rosemont Lavoisier Institute School of Technology in Inhalation Therapy).

Respiratory therapists play a little-known role; their contribution is both unique and essential. Therefore, the Foundation is proud to foster the next generation and support the Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont in its recruitment efforts while also highlighting the importance of the respiratory therapist profession.Julie Desharnais, Executive Director

In addition, the event presented the perfect opportunity for the Foundation to announce the arrival of HMR respiratory therapist Stéphanie Goupil as ambassador of the Together for the HMR Fund. Well known for her appearances on the show De garde 24/7, it was natural for Stéphanie to add her voice to the Foundation’s efforts.

I’m very proud of this! And I’m even happier to join the Foundation as an ambassador at this time when my profession is enjoying such substantial recognition!Stéphanie Goupil
