Scholarships: $100,000 for Academic Perseverance in Respiratory Therapy
7 December 2021
The Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont Foundation is pleased to award four of the ten $10,000 scholarships to future respiratory therapists who have chosen to start their career at the HMR.
At a ceremony held on December 2nd, the first four candidates were each awarded a scholarship. The recipients distinguished themselves through their passion, a desire to broaden their knowledge and their commitment to the HMR.
Substantial Scholarship for Respiratory Therapists
A sign of the tangible support pledged to the advancement of studies in respiratory therapy, these are the largest scholarships awarded for this profession within the CIUSSS de l’Est-de-Montréal. A highly symbolic event. Indeed, the first respiratory therapy school in Canada was established at the HMR in 1964. At the time, it was called the École de technologie en thérapie inhalatoire de l’Institut Lavoisier de l’Hôpital St-Joseph de Rosemont (Hôpital St-Joseph de Rosemont Lavoisier Institute School of Technology in Inhalation Therapy).
In addition, the event presented the perfect opportunity for the Foundation to announce the arrival of HMR respiratory therapist Stéphanie Goupil as ambassador of the Together for the HMR Fund. Well known for her appearances on the show De garde 24/7, it was natural for Stéphanie to add her voice to the Foundation’s efforts.
The event was attended by Dr. Martine Leblanc, Director, Professional Services and Deputy Director, Physical Health, Dr. Stéphane Ahen, Interim Director and Co-Director, Medical Services, Esther Vandal, Head of the Respiratory Activities Department and Stéphanie Goupil, Respiratory Therapist and ambassador of the Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont Foundation. They warmly welcomed Marie-Ève Bureau, Audrey Champagne, Lilia Lakhdar and Marjorie Quintal-Pépin to the HMR family!
Enable the next generation to flourish. Help the HMR Foundation support training by providing the Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont with the best possible healthcare professionals.
