«Treated at the HMR for acute myeloid leukemia, my son Antoine underwent chemotherapy followed by a bone marrow transplant (allotransplantation) in June 2010, which allowed him a short period of remission. In spite of his steadfast perseverance and unfailing courage, Antoine passed away on July 25, 2012, at the age of 24.
I created the Fonds Antoine Loranger to realize his dream: To beat leukemia and eventually all cancers. Surrounded by my family and Antoine’s friends, every year, I organize skiing (Défi ski Antoine Loranger) and golfing (Leçons pour la leucémie) activities to raise funds. The goal is to honour Antoine’s memory by creating a fund in perpetuity to support HMR leukemia research efforts and research into all other forms of cancer.»
To date, Dr. Loranger and his friends have raised over $500,000 for research in leukemia and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.
