Cancer Survivor

Sandie Oberoi, survivante du cancer du seinMy name is Sandie Oberoi. I’m a mother of two and I’ve shared my life with an extraordinary man for over 30 years. I work as a patient partner and I’m the  Head of the Service-Espace Partenaires en Cancérologie at the CIUSSS de l’Est-de-l’Île-de-Montréal. I’m a cancer survivor.

Receiving a diagnosis changes your life. Fortunately, the teams who work at the Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont (HMR) are open and exceptionally competent. I’d like to share my story with you.

When they broke the news to me, I only heard snatches of words: Aggressive protocol, chemotherapy, a mass that can’t be removed…

Then, I met a caring healthcare team who listened to my needs. What more could I ask for than life-saving treatment in the best possible place, the HMR?

My goals for the year following my diagnosis:

  • Beat cancer
  • Enjoy life
  • Complete a half Ironman

Achieving my Goals

Finally, thanks to the Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont team, almost a year later, I completed my half lronman and… I was cured!

Finally, thanks to the Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont team, almost a year later, I completed my half lronman and… I was cured.

At the Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont (HMR), a whole community of professional specialists, healthcare providers, researchers, patient partners and caregivers rally around the same mission: The fight against cancer. They work together to provide state-of-the-art care to improve patients’ lives.

I want to thank them all. Because of their efforts, stories like mine do come true! Together, let’s keep up the fight and help more patients to live better days.

Thank you for standing in solidarity with the patients and teams at the Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont, including those who are dealing with cancer.
