COVID-19: Creation of the “Together for the HMR” Fund
18 May 2020
The Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont Foundation (HMR) is launching a fundraising campaign to ensure that the population of Montreal East benefits from the best possible care at all times.
This campaign, aims to provide the HMR with the resources needed to maintain excellence in care, research and teaching, which are at the heart of the Hospital’s ability to deal with a pandemic such as COVID-19, today and in the years to come.
The Together for the HMR Fund will support the acquisition of state-of-the-art equipment and technology, the training of health care personel and increased screening capacity.
HMR and East Montreal: Telling figures!
Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont is the largest hospital centre in Eastern Montreal. It serves1:
- 26% of Montreal’s population (1 Quebecer in 10)
- A particularly vulnerable population, comprising many single-parent families, families in a precarious financial situation, etc.
- A population that is elderly, sedentary, and coping with serious and chronic diseases, such as cancer, hypertension, diabetes, asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
The multiplier effect of COVID-19
The great needs of this population put constant pressure on the HMR. With the health crisis, this pressure is even greater. It is no coincidence that the pandemic is hitting the East hard, and that the HMR is one of the institutions treating the most “COVID-19 patients” in Quebec.
Major benefits now
This campaign will:
